Joy to the World

Many years ago I visited my Grandmother Grady in the nursing home on Christmas Eve. She'd suffered many strokes which stole her ability to speak and paralyzed her frail body except for her right arm. When I arrived she waved awkwardly at a poster that someone had placed on the wall beside her bed. She wanted to make sure everyone who entered her room that night saw...really saw...that poster. We kissed her goodnight and wished her a Merry Christmas as we left late that night. 

​Mom, Dad and I decided to return in the wee hours of Christmas morning and she sweetly passed into the arms of her Lord Jesus. Our Christmas was sad, but hers was truly Merry. I have that poster that I had matted and framed hanging in my home for all to see. I share this story every Christmas as a reminder of my precious Grandmother but most of all to remind me that Jesus, Emanuel means God is With Us.
