Pot of Tea & Green Apples by Donna Ham
Pot of Tea & Green Apples by Donna Ham
I love to fix a pot of tea when the house is quiet. Recently, I awoke at 1:30 a.m. Sleep was fleeting, so I arose and decided a nice warm cup of herbal tea might settle the thoughts in my head. I found a beautiful tea pot that my children had given me years ago, heated water and waited for the warm tea to steep. Instead of choosing any old cup from the cabinet, I found a beautiful tea cup and saucer that my mother had given me when I was in need of a "pick me up." As I sat back to enjoy my tea, suddenly being awake in the wee hours of the morning turned out to be a wonderful time of reflection and journaling. The painting, Pot of Tea & Green Apples, that I just finished holds a special place in my memory. My Mother bought that for me, too. No wonder drinking tea soothes my soul. Could be why I paint so many paintings with tea pots and tea cups as the main event.

You should clothe yourseves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.
